The whole time I was working on this painting, I felt like I was in Venice, walking on the sidewalk and going in and out of the historic buildings. I love the bright colors in this painting, and the greens make me think of spring here in Upstate New York.
Growing up on a small family farm in Hubbardsville, New York, Charlotte can't remember not drawing or painting. As an only child, she entertained herself for hours on end, escaping into the world of art. At the age of 11, the family made a drastic move to Florida, where Charlotte continued to find solace in the art world and was fortunate enough to take drawing lessons with AE "Bean" Backus, a well- known Florida artist. He encouraged her to be unique and find her own style as he saw promise in her work and passion. She spent the next couple decades of her life experimenting with different techniques in oil and water color paintings. Thanks Julie for your nice comments and for voting on this piece. I am particularly fond of this piece myself and yes it was a very sad day when I finished it for this one. While working on this I lost a favorite horse so this got me through a pretty rough time.
