Artist's Description
I wish we still got milk this way. Although I remember milk being delivered to our house in glass bottles, I was born many years after this scene would have taken place.
In this painting, the delivery wagon is of special interest to me. It was called a "Low Down Wagon" and manufactured just a few miles from my home in Earlville, New York. It was unique because the driver could step right into the wagon without reaching up and climbing in. The easy entry made these wagons extremely popular in America, especially among the milk delivery companies.

Growing up on a small family farm in Hubbardsville, New York, Charlotte can't remember not drawing or painting. As an only child, she entertained herself for hours on end, escaping into the world of art. At the age of 11, the family made a drastic move to Florida, where Charlotte continued to find solace in the art world and was fortunate enough to take drawing lessons with AE "Bean" Backus, a well- known Florida artist. He encouraged her to be unique and find her own style as he saw promise in her work and passion. She spent the next couple decades of her life experimenting with different techniques in oil and water color paintings.
