Artist's Description
This is a favorite of mine for it holds a special meaning for me. I took the photo which later turned into this painting, while hiking in Cinque Terre National Park. It was a wonderful day, which I will hold dear for the rest of my life.
I was so intrigued by this door and the mysterious air it gave of what was on the other side. I knew it was a private garden for there were many terraced gardens against the mountainsides. I was curious to know what lay on the other side, but alas was left to my own imagination which I portray here by the closed door.
About Charlotte Blanchard
Growing up on a small family farm in Hubbardsville, New York, Charlotte can’t remember not drawing or painting. As an only child, she entertained herself for hours on end, escaping into the world of art. At the age of 11, the family made a drastic move to Florida, where Charlotte continued to find solace in the art world and was fortunate enough to take drawing lessons with AE "Bean" Backus, a well- known Florida artist. He encouraged her to be unique and find her own style as he saw promise in her work and passion. She spent the next couple decades of her life experimenting with different techniques in oil and water color paintings.
