HUBBARDSVILLE, NY, April 29, 2011: Central New York Artist Charlotte Blanchard was accepted into the National Association of Women Artists April 15. Her artwork met a board of prominent art jurors who meet annually to handpick its newest members.

Charlotte will feature an oil painting, Ancient Italian Fountain, from her Italian collection in the organization’s 122nd Annual Exhibition in the Sylvia Wald and Po Kim Art Gallery on 417 Lafayette St., 4th Floor in Manhattan’s East Village. The exhibition runs throughout the month of May, and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Earlville Opera House in Earlville, New York, will host a reception Saturday, Jan. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. to honor Central New York Artist Charlotte Blanchard of Wishful Traveler Gallery. Charlotte's artwork will be showcased in the winter gallery which opens Jan. 8 and runs through Feb. 19.

HUBBARDSVILLE, NY--Being a new member of Fine Art America, I am finding and enjoying much of what the site has to offer to the artist. Recently, I hosted a contest called, Beautiful Italy. Forty five very talented artists took up the challenge with their Italian art and entered 119 images to the contest which was then opened to the general public for voting. After 723 votes, the winners were chosen.

First place went to Ann Kleinpeter for Trip to Venice No. 2 (see photo) with 89 votes. Second place went to Sorin Apostolescu for Dolomiti with 72 votes. Coincidentally, third place also went Ann Kleinpeter for Sunday In Venice with 70 votes.

Country Christmas is one of the artist's favorite paintings because it has all of her favorite winter things tied up into one scene: a strong team of horses pulling a bobsled loaded with a freshly cut Christmas tree, an ornate Victorian house decorated with wreaths, smoke coming out of the chimney, and a little country church all lit up with a Christmas service in full swing. The juried show featured dozens of New York artists who displayed their artwork for the weekend.

Reflections of Portofino is one of Charlotte's favorite paintings because of the special meaning it holds. In 2008, Charlotte visited Portofino, Italy, with her family and was enamored by its beauty and charm.
